South Division

Sussex secured their progression to the next stage with a five-run win in a five-over thrash against Surrey at The Oval. Conditions were barely playable throughout, but a crowd of 10,000 were given a thrilling match. James Kirtley held his nerve in the final over with three wickets as Sussex defended their 65. Chris Nash had given the total a major boost with a nine-ball 24.

Rain was the winner at Chelmsford as Hampshire and Essex had to settle for a point each. Hampshire managed 16 overs of their innings before the weather closed in, Chris Benhan top-scoring with 41 off 31 balls until he became one of Danish Kaneria's two wickets. Andy Bichel had been economical with the new ball, but it all came to nothing in the end, ending both sides' chances of progressing.

North Division

Lancashire were denied their chance to move closer to the quarter-finals when their match against Derbyshire was washed out at Derby.

Midlands-West-Wales Division

Worcestershire's miserable time continued despite a switch of venue to Himley as heavy rain washed out their match against Glamorgan. It leaves Worcestershire struggling to make the quarter-finals.
