What I cant stand is Hayden's hypocrisy. he is running around saying the Indians wouldn't face up to the bowlers and that slowed over rates... Matthew Hayden is one of the worst time wasters. In the past it has continually been pointed out in commentary by Bill Lawry and Tony Greig over many Summers

One thing i want to mention was, look at the bowling Ponting has got on this Indian tour. Apart from Lee no other bowler had more 20 tests experience. Three dubutants in this squad, with watson though not debut in this series has only 2 or 3 test experience. Has any other captain captained this team, they would have lost 4-0. There is nothing wrong with his captaincy. Indian in the nagpur test bowled only 21 overs in a session, which he himself accepted later that being negative was there stragery. Is this not against the sprit of Cricket

Time for Hayden to retire. He was fortunate to get that many runs in his last test innings. His age was clearly evident. Marsh should be played. As for Ricky Ponting, Dale Steyn and Freddie Flintoff will emulate Ishant Sharma and knock Ricky over cheaply relieving him of the agony and humiliation he and the Australians suffered at the hands of the Indians.

PART II Even the Windies cant boast of a great test side today either. Just when Zimbabwe were showing promising signs they lost their test status. Bangladesh today are merely making up the numbers. In essence quality test cricket today is confined to 5-6 nations. Unfortunately this is heading in a wrong direction. Suddenly we'll face a time when playing 100 tests will be a rarity both because the number of games played will be compromised to fit in the shorter versions and also there will not be good enough players left to sustain their spot in the team for 100 tests. Today no player denies that test cricket is the most premium form of the game but do the younger lot have the same opinion? Not to blame them, such has been the standard of older players that the younger ones have hardly been inducted in the team. I believe I have made my point and its up to the administrators and domestic cricket structure to start hunting for talents worthy of carrying this uncompromisable legacy ahead

It feels great to see India Triumphant. But a bigger picture is a little scary to say the least. Test cricket over the past decade or two has been fascinating to say the least. If the last era was known for its All Rounders, Hadlee, Botham, Dev and Khan, this era has seen a few truly gifted batsmen all adding to the aura of the game at pretty much the same time. India boasts of its Fab Four. Aussies have Punter, Haydos and also had the services of Gilly. SA had Kirsten, Gibbs. The Windies had Lara. The striking fact is that they were so good and consistent that the teams looked pretty much the same over a decade. And all of a sudden they have either retired or are at final stages their career. Same goes with the bowling attack too around the world. Unless a new generation of players are unearthed soon the game will loose its aura at a time when it is already fighting its existence. The Kiwis today are a forgotten lot, Pakistan has its political problems to contend with.
